Our Mission

The Winnicut River Project (WRP) is a nonpartisan collaborative effort funded by a Great Bay 2030 Grant. The WRP grant was written by members of the Greenland community, is supported by the Town of Greenland, and was funded in February of 2026 by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.

The mission of the WRP is to create a shared vision to modernize the NH Route 33 corridor in Greenland that balances transportation needs with environmental stewardship and recreation.  Areas of focus are the Winnicut River Bridge, the NH Route 33/Bayside Road/Winnicut Road intersections, and Rolston Park. The WRP aims to foster community engagement and promote safer driving, walking, and biking in Greenland, as well as to provide recreational access to the Winnicut River at Rolston Park. A functional, popular design will be ideal for attracting the funding needed for the upgrades.

Partnering with Conservation

The WRP’s sister project: the Fishway Modification Design and Permitting Project, also awarded in February to NH Fish & Game with a Great Bay 2030 grant, will fund the design of a new, functional fishway beneath the bridge to restore critical fish habitat in the Winnicut River.

You Can Help

The WRP is a Community Project. Your input and involvement in the WRP will provide the most meaning and success: The more people who participate, the better the outcome and design.
